The Hellenic Heritage Foundation (HHF) is a national charitable, non-profit organization established in Toronto. It was founded in 1996 with a mission to preserve, promote and advance Hellenic education, culture and heritage in Canada. Most notably it established a Chair of Hellenic Studies at York University and has provided a significant endowment to the Munk School of Global Affairs Hellenic Studies program at the University of Toronto.
CleanMark President, Vavitsas sits on the board of the Hellenic Heritage Foundation. Most recently, the HHF has been involved in a round of fundraising for the Hellenic Home, a long-term care senior’s home that has residences in Toronto and Scarborough, Ontario. During this pandemic, the board chose to raise much needed necessary funds to provide PPE to the personal support workers and longterm care residents of Hellenic Home. CleanMark contributed $10,000 towards this pledge, with John as an active member of the Fundraising Committee – the $100,000 pledge was fulfilled.
“This is a relevant cause and one that I am proud to be able to help,” said Vavitsas. “On a daily basis we are made aware of the unprecedented challenges that longterm care home staff, residents, and family members have and continue to experience during this time. It was imperative that help is provided to protect the residents and the essential workforce that takes care of them.”
